Flow at home

WELCOME TO FLOW AT WORK

Safeguarding the physical, emotional and mental wellbeing of employees is more important than ever before, as they continue to adapt to working from home, often in conditions that are far from ideal.

Using yoga, meditation and breathing practices, ‘Flow at Work’ is a new series of online corporate wellbeing sessions which aims to give teams the space to find much-needed calmness, connectivity and clarity.   The programme is designed to help each individual within your team to boost energy, improve sleep, concentration and productivity – critical during these times of stress and uncertainty.

Each of the six sessions have been specifically devised to run consecutively to create a coherent structure and programme of learning and will be delivered live via Zoom by Lucy Parker, Founder and Owner of award-winning studio Flow Tunbridge Wells. Lucy has been teaching yoga for over ten years and practising for thirty years. She is a Senior Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance Professionals and a registered Meditation Teacher. Whether you choose the full programme or a one-off bespoke session (tailored to suit your budget or timeframe) the results will remain the same: a happier, more focused and productive workforce.

Using the ancient wisdom of yoga, delivered through thoroughly modern methods, we will provide easy to access tools to help your team remain steady, happy and calm as we attempt to cope with this ‘new normal’. As they feel the benefits so will they radiate a deeper sense of satisfaction and clarity in their work and home lives.

THEMES AND TOPICS FOR EACH SESSION

1. FOUNDATION: FINDING STRENGTH IN THE NOW
An introduction into how incorporating simple yogic tools into your everyday life can steady your mind and keep you focused on the present moment. We will learn 5 top tips that will help reduce stress & anxiety and plant a seed of interest in your teams to discover more about themselves and their wellbeing.

2. BODY: EASING OUT PHYSICAL ACHES & PAINS
In this session, we will learn simple and effective physical movement patterns that can be easily practiced while sitting at your desk, chair or sofa. Together we will stretch and ease out our bodies, relieving back, neck, wrist and shoulder pain and to restore the health of our spines. We will learn a little about our spinal anatomy and how specific spinal movements can quickly ease out tension and reduce the likelihood of headaches or nausea.

3. FINDING CALM THROUGH BALANCE
Finding a sense of inner harmony begins with physical balance and anchoring. In this session we will use yogic standing postures and practices to steady into our feet and find the central axis and core support structures of our spines. We will begin to feel into how we can use our physical bodies to support our minds and regain a sense of inner strength, equanimity and calm in the eye of the storm.

4. BREATHING & THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
Our breath and nervous system are intrinsically linked.  If we are “gasping for breath”, “hyperventilating” or “holding our breath” our nervous system is on hyper alert for a potential catastrophe.   In this session we will learn more about the see-saw between our parasympathetic (rest & digest) and sympathetic (fight or flight) systems and how the vagus nerve plays a very central role.   When we understand more about the science behind the breath, and the power that it holds over our mood we can start to use it to our advantage. We will then learn some brilliant strategies to calm and steady ourselves with nothing more than the air we breathe!

5. MIND & THE BRAIN WAVES
Did you know that our brains waves at various different frequencies depending on the time of day, what activities we are performing and how we are feeling about what is required from us?  If our brains our frantic we know it, and so too does our breath our bodies and our emotions.  In this session we will learn a little brain anatomy and explore how we can regulate our brain waves for our optimal functioning. Quick and sharp when required, slow and steady when needed. This session will explore some ancient meditation practices in very modern language to help you master your mind and steady the inevitable rise and fall of the waves.

6. CREATIVITY: EMBRACING YOUR INNER ‘SUPERPOWER’
Some of us are led by our intellect, some by our emotions and some by our gut instincts.  It is a truly creative brilliance to harness the essence of all 3 into a new and powerful super force of all of them combined. This leads to a creative clarity of thought and feeling that can be super liberating and very expansive.  It is said that when all 3 of our ‘brains’ are working together we become alchemists of our own paths, carving out a meaningful life for ourselves and those around us.  We are able to problem solve with creative flair and see any problem as an opportunity.
