HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY FLOW! Established 2015 and still growing strong…

BEN & LUCY PARKER, CO-FOUNDERS OF FLOW

Have you ever grown anything directly from seed?  If not, I strongly recommend you give it a go. This time of year, as we enter Spring and hot on the heels of the Celtic celebration of Imbolc, is the perfect time to start.

The process of growing something from seed is not without its risks; you prepare your soil, add water and search out the best light. Once planted, the seed is hidden, so you have to be patient whilst mustering up a hopeful attitude despite the uncertainty of not knowing.  There are risks, and sometimes, sadly, the seed fails, something happens, and the plant doesn’t grow.  And sometimes it does, and it’s a magical thing, a joyous sprouting into creation, and you can do little else but stand back and marvel at your achievement.

This is how Ben and I felt 10 years ago when we planted the first seeds of our dream business, Flow Tunbridge Wells.  We’d done the preparation, chosen a name with care, bought the domain and designed the venue.  We’d laid the foundations, being very careful to be attentive to the details and respectful of our vision.

FLOW TUNBRIDGE WELLS, 29 Woodbury Park Road, TWells

On 23rd February 2015, Flow flung open its fledgling doors and hoped, with fingers and toes tightly crossed, that people would come.  And they did, and have done for the past decade despite some seismic challenges, including a pretty pesky global pandemic.

In the very early days a client of mine, who ran a similar small business, told me that if they had one day without any clients, they would simply shut shop, and that would be that.  Harsh, I thought, and yet the idea stuck, and somehow, it’s become a bit of a personal mantra.  If the people want us, we’ll stay open, we say, and our community have done just that.

COMMUNITY & CONNECTION IS EVERYTHING

The community of Flow is our lifeblood, the air, water and warmth that any seed of an idea needs to flourish.  It’s our shared connections and compassion that keep Flow’s doors open and our message clear, come and watch us grow as we support you on your own awakening odyssey.

Clients come for yoga, osteopathy and counselling; they are all seeking something fulfilling and nurturing, and we hope to offer a safe haven that promises the potential for individual healing, transformation and change.

A WARM WELCOME

Imbolc is traditionally celebrated between the 1st and 4th of February and signals that Springs is stirring.  It’s a hopeful time of year that nestles comfortably between the Winter solstice and Spring equinox. Directly translated, the word Imbolc means ‘in the belly of the Mother, ’ referring to that very seed entrusted to Mother Earth for nourishment and protection before it takes its first tentative steps towards light and metamorphosis.  At this time, we, too, can look to nature to inspire and encourage us to courageously emerge out from the darkness and towards the light.

THE POWER OF BEING BOTH SEEN & HEARD

It was a bold and pioneering move for Ben and I to open a wellbeing centre, incorporating a yoga studio and therapy room, in 2015.  We were bolstered by witnessing the success of my first yoga studio, Pantiles Yoga, which had opened 5 years previously, and Ben’s robust reputation as a local osteopath.

We were to join forces, share resources and build something fresh and inspiring.  It was a courageous act that took vision, determination and creativity.  And now, 10 years on, we’re ever so glad we took that leap of faith and so very grateful to our community for helping us fly.

INNOVATIVE & INFORMED TEACHING

Of course, we’ve also evolved, adapted and transformed over the years. The Flow you see today is not the same as the one we launched in 2015, and we’re glad for it.

Lucy has re-trained to add counselling and coaching to her 15 + years of working therapeutically with clients on a 1:1 basis. Ben is embracing a more holistic approach to supporting clients through osteopathy and our teaching team are reflective of the needs & demands of current trends and expectations.

We’re ever so proud of Flow, of ourselves, our team and our clients. Together, we make a winning combination of vibrant, loving and kind citizens in a harsh and confusing global climate.

LUCY & BEN PARKER

We’d like to remind you that we’re here for you and have been for the past 10 years, come rain or shine. We’ll stay here for you, and we hope you keep attending for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for being part of our community, to those of you who have found your Flow, and welcome to those of you who are only just beginning. Every BODY is welcome!

Finally, we’d love for you to help us to celebrate during our Summer Party on Saturday 10th May from 2 - 6 pm. Please come along to meet old friends, celebrate with past & present teachers and forge new meaningful connections.

Should you be able to attend, we’d be very grateful if you could bring a small contribution to the buffet table; something to eat or drink would be wonderful.

For now, stay steady, keep breathing and go with the Flow!

With love & peace

Lucy & Ben
